At Wallero, we have developed and implemented many comprehensive design systems for specific clients. One such customer was a world-class pharmaceutical company They struggled to maintain Scalability, Consistency, and Efficiency across their many design projects. They needed to streamline and standardize their design process while focusing on keeping it user-centered design. As a result, to address these difficulties, our team joined to help them build and implement a solution maximizing ROI through design systems.
Overcoming Challenges
Since the client had a wide range of devices, including desktops, tablets, and mobile phones, one of the primary challenges we faced was achieving consistency. We needed a sync across all platforms. To address this, we created multiple versions of the required design system with components and grid systems to target different screens. The visual language of the design system was based closely on the company brand’s guidelines. This helped promote their brand identity and improve consistency.
Another area where we needed to improve on was reducing the time spent on design and development. Designers and developers were usually required to create components, and patterns from scratch on every screen. This resulted in a longer project timeline for implementing effective design systems for business impact. To tackle this we created our design system in such a way that it acted like a library of components, design rules, and patterns. This enabled an easy solution, for example, any time a change was required in the design of a component, it only needed to be changed in the main component in the library file, and the changes were immediately applied to all the child components in every screen. As a result, the team could focus on solving other design challenges, shortening the development cycles, with more time to work on new features or products.
User-centric design is something we always keep in mind at every step of the process. We carefully documented every individual component and its interaction patterns in the design system after studying how users interact with different platforms. Wallero ensured smoothness in screen transitions and for the process to be user-friendly. As a result, the end-users felt a sense of familiarity and regularity while interacting with the product, leading to increased user loyalty and engagement.
Benefits of Implementing Design Systems for Business Growth
It was observed that implementing the design system greatly benefited our clients in many ways:
- Easily maintained consistency in design and UX.
- Strengthened Brand identity.
- User-centric solution for product interaction i.e. more familiarized and regular experience to improve the engagement rate.
- Improved workflows and efficiency for designers and developers, allowing them to spend more time on solving complicated design challenges.
- With proven scalability and adaptability, the fast-changing market demands were met.
- Documented design language, components, rules, and patterns (in one place) improve collaboration and communication among designers, developers, and stakeholders.
- Wallero produced an efficient and cost-effective solution for the client.
Overall, Wallero successfully created Strategies for boosting business with design systems and implemented them. This allowed our clients to save time and money while producing world-class products with providing the best UX.
